Diesel-Electric Locomotive Cab Rides
Riding the rails is always wonderful. There's nothing else quite like it. Here's an opportunity to take it to the next level. Nothing can match the sights, sounds you experience from being the cab of the locomotive itself. Everyone can enjoy this unique opportunity at the Texas Transportation Museum in San Antonio. See below for details.

Things to bear in mind regarding cab rides

Riding in the cab is an opportunity that we want you to enjoy. While TTM wishes to give every guest the best experience, safety has to be our highest priority. Also, a certain amount of physical strength and agility is required just to get into the cab. The steps are vertical. It takes a bit of effort to get where you need to go. Please also not that neither of our diesel-electric cabs have heat or air-conditioning. TTM does not offer cab rides in its operating steam locomotive when it is in service. Offering this service is at the daily discretion of the train crew. If conditions are not suitable for the safe operation of the train with passengers in the cab for any reason, we reserve the right not to offer them on that particular day and/or time.

Cab ride rules

1. Cab rides are $5 per person
2. Cab ride tickets are only good on the day they are purchased, and also the specific time
3. Cab riders must be physically able to climb the steps into the cab
4. A maximum of two persons is allowed per ride
5. Cab riders must report to the train engineer no less than 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time
6. Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a person at least 18 years old. Both must have valid tickets.
7. No child under the age of 6 is allowed to ride in the cab
8. Do not distract the driver while the train is in motion. Wait until the ride is over for questions or discussions
9. Stay outside the area restricted to the engineer which is marked with yellow lines
A release stating understanding and agreement with these rules must be signed when purchasing cab ride tickets
