Fire Truck Rides
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that rides on our fire trucks, or other vehicles will be available
all the time that we are open. Sometimes, conditions on our unpaved roads make taking them out too dangerous.
And sometimes we do not have a qualified driver available. We try to make fire truck rides available whenever
we can, as we know how popular they are. We also kind of like giving them, too!
Location

Yahoo Maps
The Museum is located just to the north of San Antonio International Airport. It is in the shadow of the new
Wurzbach Parkway overpass, where Starcrest ends at Wetmore Road. It is next door to the Gunn Sports Park. It is between Starcrest
and Thousand Oaks.
From Loop 410, take Broadway heading outside the loop. Broadway ends at Wetmore. Take a right on Wetmore.
Go up until you come to the lights where Starcrest meets Wetmore. We are on your left, just under the overpass.
From IH 35, take the Wurzbach Parkway exit, near O'Connor, and drive along the Parkway until you come to
the Wetmore exit. The museum is immediately on your left at the intersection. Enter from Wetmore.
From HWY 281, take the Bitters Road exit and head east. Bitters becomes Starcrest. Take the Wetmore Exit.
Turn left on Wetmore. The museum will be on your left just after the overpass.
A Word About Safety

Everyone at Texas Transportation Museum wants your visit to be a pleasant one. But we also care
that it is a safe experience, too. Railroads, by their very nature, are both fascinating and
dangerous. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP A TRAIN QUICKLY. Even going at the slow speed we use at
the museum, even in an emergency, a train will travel many more feet than a car would at the
same speed. In addition, it is simply not possible for the engineer to see everything that is
happening "behind" the train.
PLEASE HELP US TO KEEP OUR VERY SUCCESSFUL ACCIDENT PREVENTION RECORD BY FOLLOWING THIS IMPORTANT
RULE :
KEEP OFF THE TRACKS AT ALL TIMES!
Keep an eye on your kids. Don't let them wander off on their own. Keep them away from the
tracks and from the roads. We try to keep our exhibits out where you can see them, but much
of it is both rare and easily damaged.
Please keep small hands away, so everything and everyone is safe.
Thank You !
