2008 is the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the Ford Model T, the vehicle that put
America and the rest of the world on wheels. To celebrate this occasion the "T Fords of Texas" and the
Texas Transportation Museum hosted their second annual Model T show. The event attracted 38
Model Ts, from single seat race cars to an ambulance. There were open
tourers, closed coupes and sedans, speedsters, heavy duty trucks, depot hacks and even one
of the first midget racers!

The event was sponsored by the Red McCombs Automotive Group which itself is celebrating its 50th
anniversary in 2008. Thanks to their generosity all 1,200 visitors were able to attend the
show for free. The Ford Motor Company was there too, giving out really cool Model T posters and other items, plus allowing South Texans their first
opportunity to see the brand new F150 truck, the best selling vehicle in America, which is
celebrating its 60th anniversary, almost all as the #1 truck in the country.

We had vehicles from the Texas Air Museum located at the historic Stinson Airport and also the Shooting Star Air Museum
in Castroville. The Union Pacific Railroad brought its Operation Lifesaver team to the event as
did the Old Spanish Trail Association, which celebrates the 80th anniversary of the completion of
the first southern transcontinental highway, from St. Augustine in Florida to San Diego, California.

One of just many Model Ts arriving at the show
Model Ts were brought by their owners from Houston, San Angelo, Austin, San Marcos, Canyon Lake,
Devine, Lytle and of course, San Antonio. There would have been no show without these generous
Model T enthusiasts. They were rewarded with a terrific reception by the public and a wonderful
cruise downtown which involved going past the Alamo! The event got good coverage in the San Antonio
Express News, KENS 5, the local CBS affiliate and also KABB 11, Fox News. Altogether the event
got over sixty media "hits" and even managed to make it onto the national NBC news!

The T Fords of Texas and the Texas transportation Museum extend hearty thanks to everyone
involved. A great time was had by all and, yes, we are going to do it all again next year,
only bigger and better!
