This unassuming piece of equipment, designed to allow moving trains to
pick up and drop off mail, is actually one of the most historic pieces
at the museum. It is in fact the last one ever used for the pupose and,
not only that, it happened just a half mile away from the museum, at the
crossing of Thosand Oaks and the old Missouri Pacific line. There used
to be a small depot there which is long gone, but the classic, completely
unrenovated, post office is still there. Its a diamond in the rough, having
managed to avoid much in the way of "improvement" since it was built.
