Rescuing a 1915 Ford Model TT truck
Texas Transportation Museum, San Antonio

A few years ago, these remains of a 1915 Ford Model TT truck were donated to the Texas Transportation
Museum. The museum did not have the resources to do anything with it and it was stored behind a
house down town, quietly rusting away, prior, probably, to it being disposed of. However, when
Daniel B and Mike M. of the San Antonio Ford Model T club, the "T Fords of Texas," heard about
it and saw the first pictures, they decided the vehicle was salvable. Daniel had recently
acquired a whole garage full of old Model T parts amongst which there just happened to be a
1915 Model T engine and transmission. This is how many of the beautiful and shiny Model Ts
you see at shows start out, as almost impossible rescue missions.

The shell, which also included
some important "extras," such as the engine covers, was picked up in the fall of 2007. We look forward
to sharing pictures of the restoration as they become available. the intent at this time is to
make the it into a tow truck as Mike happens to have a period correct automobile winch. When it all
comes together, it's going to be an amazing story.
