We are so proud to announce that San Antonio's very own Special Olympians will be joining us on Saturday April 4. This is the first time this group will be a part of one of major events at the museum. We invite you to bring donations of new sprting related items, such s running shoes, tennis racquets, baseball bats, basket balls, even swim goggles, so these gifted athletes can continue to bring glory to San Antonio at the many sports they compete in.

The T Fords of Texas will be providing rides in their cars for a small donation on both days. The two highlights of the event will be a convoy of Model Ts bringing the Special Olympics athletes from a nearby athletic center to the museum around 11:00 AM. The following day there will be a cruise downtown along Broadway and back to the museum past the Alamo. The vehicles will leave around 10:30 AM and return around noon. However, there will still be plenty of Model Ts to see at the museum before the spectacular return of up to thirty Model Ts of all types through the museum gates. It is certainly a sight to behold!

All regular museum activities will be available during "Model Ts @ TTM." There will be scheduled train rides every 45 minutes beginning at 12:00 Noon. Both the indoor HO model train layout and the outdoor "G" scale garden model railroad will be in operation. Regular museum admissions are

What makes the Ford Model T so special?

The Ford Model T was introduced in 1908. Over its nineteen year production run over 15 million vehicles were built in a staggering variety of body styles. There were open and closed coupes and sedans, light and heavy duty trucks, ambulances and depot hacks. In 192 half the vehicles in the world were Model Ts. There were 36 factories in the USA alone, with more in Europe and even Australia. This is truly the car that put the world on wheels.

The Model T is often called the "Tin Lizzie" or the "Flivver." It was easy to build, operate and maintain. Built for unpaved roads, it was rugged yet inexpensive. The Model T put motoring within the reach of the everybody, not just the wealthy.

At "Model Ts @ TTM" the cars will break free from behind the velvet rope, where you see them at most museums. You will be able to experience these great vehicles running around the museum's unpaved roads, just like those that existed back in 1908 when the Ford Model T was first introduced.

Come on out with your family and experience
history coming alive before your very eyes!
