This terrible explosion was one of the worst in history.
The locomotive was absolutely destroyed along with not only
railroad buildings in the yard but also businesses and houses
for a considerable distance away. A 16,000 pound chunk of the
boiler was hurled over 1,200 feet. 26 people were killed.
