Museum Goals
Texas Transportation Museum, San Antonio

Texas Transportation Museum continues to build on its long history of growth and development. We have
bold plans for the future that will enhance the experience for our visitors and make our
museum one of the premier transportation museums in the state. We intend to bring our small
historic steam locomotive back into service, extend our tracks by a mile and, ultimately, to
build a brand new, two story display building, complete with class rooms that will house our
extensive collections and provide a better opportunity for us to demonstrate the incredible
contributions that transportation developments have made to the lives of everybody across or
region. It won't be easy and it won't be cheap but we are determined to maintain our impressive
level of growth and build for a facility that makes an even greater contribution to our
community.
TTM Mission Statement
Texas Transportation Museum is an all volunteer organization that collects, preserves and
displays transportation equipment and related items. We operate a working passenger railroad,
several model train layouts and many road vehicles. We provide an educational and entertaining
experience which interprets how developments in transportation technology shaped and continue
to impact daily life."
Looking to the future as of Spring 2007
The list of items we are continuing to work on is impressive. Emboldened by
our recent successfully completed projects and the increase in attendance that has come with them, we look to the future
with great optimism. Texas Transportation Museum has the potential to be not only a
significant part of the San Antonio community. We believe that with the developments we are working on, it
will be a significant draw for visitors from across the state of Texas and beyond. We already
get an impressive number of visitors from outside San Antonio, including many from overseas. Each
improvement yields tangible benefits, in terms of increased enjoyment for our visitors plus
greater revenue for the museum which we immediately invest right back into making the facility
even better.
