TTM returned to the San Antonio Folklife Festival hosted by the Institute of Texan
Cultures for the first time in around twenty years in 2008. We took our recently restored
1924 Ford Model T truck, a small G scale layout provided and staffed by SAGRES and a table
top HO layout built by Fred Bock, a member of AMRE, the Alamo Model Railroad Engineers, an
autonomous division of the museum and also the Lone Star regional division director of the
NMRA, the National Model Railroad Association. Fred, who is a Master Model Railroader, first
built the framework of the layout some twenty years ago with his then 10 year old son. It's
latest incarnation represents a fictional area of Arizona. The three part exhibit at the show
was staffed by a number of other museum volunteers as well. These included Nathan Oxhandler of
SAGRES, the San Antonio Garden Railroad Engineer Society, also to be found at TTM, father and son
team Pete and John Stabe of AMRE plus two recent additions to TTM, Charlotte Boord of SANTRAK,
the local "N" scale model railroad group which now maintains two operating layouts at TTM and
Charlotte Kahl of the Old Spanish Trail Association which now has a permanent display at the museum.
The Model T was driven to and from the show by TTM Manager, Hugh Hemphill.
